Silage Making  

Although it has been the latest Spring on record with little or no grass growth, the silage season is  only a few weeks away. We will get a  burst of growth shortly which will release a large amount of soil nitrogen up into the grass which may affect the fermentation process. If you are unsure, call Ronan or Declan and they will send a grass sample for a pre-ensilability test to make sure your grass is ready for cutting. Always remember if conditions are not ideal for the silage making process , use an inoculant of a preservative.
